Ted Cruz, the Republican junior senator from Texas and Tea Party firebrand, is now in his 20th hour of filibustering to prevent the continuing resolution to fund the US Government from October 1 forward from being passed with funding for the Affordable Care Act. He says the ACA would be worse than turning Darth Vader loose on Earth. It will end America as we know it. We don’t need to fund the government and pay our bills anyway.

If we fail to raise the debt limit, bond agencies will lower our credit ratings, which means the interest rate on our existing debt will rise, and all future borrowing will cost far more.
