Favorite commericals from your childhood.

“Great Question” (0points)

The “favorite show, media moment” question got me thinking about the commercials from my childhood. Please tell me I’m not the only one who remembers “You got peanut butter in my chocolate! You got chocolate in my peanut butter!” or “Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don’t upset us…”

What’s your favorite commercial from childhood?

I remember when I was a kid the commercials were always the highlight, the whole family sitting around the telly and without fail the lot of us would spontaneously burst into song as soon as the commercial jingles would come on.

Ah simpler times.

Oh was anyone around for this one for McDonalds. Creepy or what? I blame this and not IT for peoples fear of clowns.

“Fruit Juicy, Fruit Juicy, Fruit Juicy Hawaiian Punch.

How would you like a nice Hawaiian Punch?

POW!”

My brother and I would get hysterical over that for years.

Bugs Bunny was the character associated with this instant orange drink throughout the Sixties and he sold a lot of powder. This commercial is from early in the Sixties, before Tang became known as “the drink of Astronauts”.

In this spot, Bugs tricks Daffy into taking shots at his own relatives for a taste of Tang – it’s that good, apparently!

Remember Grape Tang?

Not my favorite but I recall “Winston tastes good, like a cigarette should.”

@See; It was the ad for the cigarette and clearly a Freudian slip. What good eyes you have.

I think this one was an Excedrin commercial, where a woman is cooking and her mother comes over and says “don’t you think it needs a little salt?”, making a scrunched up face – And the daughter is all agitated and yells back at her “Motherrr Please, I’m trying to do it myself!!”

Kar's avatar

Osullivanbr – that McDonalds commercial was enoug h to scare anyone off!!

Plus, I believe that’s Willard Scott playing Ronald McDonald.

How about “Good morning, good morning, the best to you each morning; K e double-L, oh double-good, kellogs, best to you.” And then there was, “where the value goes up, up up, and the prices go down, down, down, Robert Hall this season will show you the reason – low overhead, low overhead.” I didn’t know what overhead meant, so thought their roof had issues or something. And on the radio there was; “turn your radio on, turn your radio on – it helps you jingle along. Keep your radio on, keep your radio on. The music is great, the news up-to-date on WLS! In Chicaaaaaago, in Chicaaaaago, in Chigaaaago. WLS.” Ha-ha.
