I really don’t want a sink in my island, but the sink will be very far from the stove if I don’t. It would be about 10 feet. Also, using the island to prepare food and even putting the dishes in the dishwasher will mean I face out towards the family room while doing these chores, which I like.

What I dread is when using the sink it is almost impossible for some water not to sometimes get around it. Also, the dirty dishes and pots and pans might sit there at times or pile up if a lot of people are visiting. I plan to have a few stools around the island and all that would be unattractive if people are visiting.

What do you think? How do you like your island with the sink? I love a large island with no sink in the middle of the kitchen. This will be long, and there is only a wall in the back of the kitchen, the island is like a barrier you walk around to get into the kitchen. I hope that makes sense.

The other choice is the sink that would be far away, it would be off to the side and would face a window to the backyard.
