Seems to me that people are often ready to judge and belittle music they don’t like or find weird, usually with some half assed reason they believe passes off as justification. Metal makes people kill, rap makes you a womanizing prick, country makes you a conservative jackass….the list goes on, I daresay. I can see why, as music says things, there’s always an idea behind the lyrics. But music doesn’t turn people into things, because if that were true, the world would probably be very different. There are whole cultures behind most types of music, but what I see from most people who judge music and the fans shows very little understanding behind said genres and associated people.
People like to blame things, and they like to judge, relegating problems and emotions to some outer source with no real link. Personally, these are dangerous mindsets that I believe we can do without.
But you are what you are, and the kind of person you are might dictate what kind of music you like maybe, although it certainly does not work the other way around.
If it was, I’d have a huge braided beard, and I’d spend all day and night raiding and burning villages.
