Don’t miss Charlie Kaufman. You go straight to his best, Synecdoche, New York, or you could start with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
There’s David Lynch, if that’s your type of thing. Go with Mulholland Drive.
There is always the amazing Coen brothers. No Country for Old Men, Barton Fink, or the best comedy of all time, The Big Lebowski.
And you can never go wrong with Wes Anderson. There’s the classic The Royal Tennenbaums. But don’t miss the underrated The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and The Darjeeling Limited.
And if you’re into a type of slow, minimalism, you could explore Jim Jarmush (one of my favorites). There’s Stranger than Paradise, Down by Law., Mystery Train, and Dead Man.
