Is there a good natural way to deal with some fluid in your ear?

A few weeks ago I got sick (cold?). The sinus pressure included one ear. Knowing that doctors don’t want to over prescribe antibiotics (for good reason), I’ve waited to see if it would get better but I still have some fluid in one ear, but feel okay otherwise. Any treatment advice?

Folks here mostly will tell you to go to a doctor. But I’m an alternative gal, and I’ll tell you what I’ve done. As soon as I start getting sick I go to the health food store and buy the best immune support they offer. When I’m in your situation I take the maximum amount. I also drink LOTS and LOTS of water. My pee is almost clear, every single time I pee, which means I pee a lot. PM me if you want to know what brands I’ve found works well.

I also have been known to eat raw garlic (chop up a clove finely, and let it sit for about 10 minutes before taking with food). If I’m in really bad shape I’ll take a pile about the size of a dime at every meal. You smell so strongly that you can clear a room without opening your mouth, but the upside is it helps keep muggers off of you, and helps fight infection as well! (woot!)

The build up of fluid in the middle ear not usually cause pain and almost always goes away on its own. Using antibiotics, the fluid clears a little faster and it might lower the chance of ear infection. Sometimes a doctor puts tubes in the ears. An ear tube makes a hole in the eardrum so fluid can drain out. It is always best to ask for advice from a health professional when dealing with ear problems as self treatment may prove to be harmful.

If it is middle ear fluid sometimes sudafed can help. If it’s from external ear canal wax then you need it taken out.

Go to the store, buy some decongestant.
You could try to use a hair dryer, or pour a bit of alcohol in, but the decongestant will work.

You can opt for decongestant treatment. Besides, when you sleep, you can rest your head on the pillow, or sleep with your ears turning dowards. The gravity aids in getting rid of the fluid in your ear.
