Black Friday for you was it a bore, a score, or nevermore?

Did you get it, that must have item and home invasion theft prices? Who did you have to elbow aside to get it? Was there need to rundown any old people or pregnant mothers to get to that last box or item? Did you near campout over night or get up before the crows to make sure you were positioned to get it? Was it such a horror you will never go again? Was it just too annoying to go through all that to save 50% off?

My wife took several small children to that new Disney movie and then dinner at some restaurant, since all of their parents had to work.

I asked to be excused, then sat right here and spent most of the afternoon with youz people.

Fun for them, but probably more fun for me….

It was wonderful! Rick and I stayed in Wichita Thursday night. The next day we just wandered around. For example:
While in Wichita today Rick and I decided to go to Menards because we’ve never been there. We both love those kinds of places. WAY better than any Mall.
Turns out it was by Jabara Airport, which made me giggle. Yeah, there are about 3 Morton buildings set in a field. I can see how it could be confused with McConnell Air Force Base.
Turns out Menards is right across the street….holy crap that place is HUGE! Maybe that’s what he saw that he thought was McConnell!
I guess we’re lucky the headlines didn’t read “Jumbo Jet lands at Menards, can’t take back off.”

Never shop on that day.

@jaytkay Actually, I forgot to mention the cranberry jelly.

I maintain it is silly to put stuffing on a piece of bread.

Ignoring the carb overload already implied in a mashed potato sandwich.

My physical therapist increased the weights on my operated leg from 1 lb. to two. That was really fun. On the way home to collapse and nap I picked up an item I had been searching for at the KItchen store on Main St. The line at the check-out consisted of me and took 43 seconds. So I went back and bought two turquoise ceramic soup bowls for me.

@Seek: Use the stuffing and cranberries as filler for the mashed potato sandwich and gravy as glue. Bread is totally unnecessary,

I spent yesterday, which happened to be my 24th birthday, lying on the couch, eating copious amounts of food, and watching movies. I wouldn’t be caught dead participating in Black Friday. Screw that noise.

Not a thing for me.

Hope consumers got their bargains.

Hope corporations met their projections.

Eggie's avatar

@ livelaughlove Should have called me for a date, I would have treated you for your birthday.

The kids and I went for a short, cold hike at a nearby conservation area. Then we went home, had hot chocolate, played board games, and had a great time together.

@gailcalled – That has the distinct ring of a challenge.

^^ Not at all. It is another vote of cofidence in your abilities.

Nevermore. I slept in until 10:30am, watched a marathon of House Hunters while in the comfort of my bedroom, then watched The Hobbit with my family. It was a lovely, lazy day.

I forgot about Black Friday and it’s craziness; I decided to run to the store to buy extra bread baking necessities. I was almost ran over by a shopping cart and people were yelling at each other. I was absolutely perplexed until I realized what day it was.

Scored some deals at Toys R Us (ONLINE! :D) <Thursday. Then the next morning I went to the local record shops one in the morning before I had work, scored some awesome records special to Black Friday Record Store Day. Then I went to the other shop after work scored some more RSD BF deals, then went to Ikea and bought 50$ worth of goods. Didn’t have a hectic day at all.

I just went on the American Eagle website, got a $40 perfume gift set (my birthday gift to myself) and a $12 pair of earrings with their “40% off everything” deal and $30 on an old gift card I had. I only ended up spending $3 out of my checking account and never left my couch. I’m pretty excited about it.

Went to Walmart to get some mouthwash. The checkout line started about 20 feet into the store and went all the way around the outside aisles. I didn’t stay to buy my mouthwash, went to the liquor store down the street and got some Rye. Not so good a day, but a great night.

@Seek_Kolinahr I find a mashed potato and gravy sandwich without noodles to be odd?

I won’t step foot in a mall from the middle of November until the next year. The only place I miss going is Whole Foods, but oh well, Safeway is fine.

We went to Fisherman’s Wharf for Black Friday, and ate fried calamari and Dungeness crabs on the patio, in the sunshine. It was delightful. And nobody got elbowed for the crab!

OneBadApple's avatar

‘Dungeness crabs’.....I don’t like the sound of that….

BhacSsylan's avatar

First time in a few years I didn’t go out on black friday. Usually I do and have fun, strange as that sounds, but not to be this year. Maybe next.

Oh, and Dungeness crabs are amazing, by far my favorite crab. Super delicious and tons of meat. Though, they also have much harder shells than others and sharp spikes all over, so it is a bit of a risk >.>. Have to work for your meal!

I stayed in all day and did laundry and tried to read my book for the book group and other fun stuff. Then I went out around 4:30 and met a friend at the diner for dinner and then we drove in her car to Kohls. It was around 6:30 when we got there, and there were still Black Friday prices but no crowds. No great bargains. Prices jacked up initially to laughable levels. I told her someone would be an idiot to pay the “original price” and they’d be an idiot to pay the sale price, too. For example, they had a vinyl tote, $90. Sale price $40. You’d be an idiot to even consider paying $90 for a vinyl tote bag, and still an idiot to pay $40 for one. One of the things I bought was a scarf because I was freezing. Then we went to Target because they had 600 count sheet sets on sale but they didn’t have the size she needed or I needed. She bought towels for $2 each. I didn’t buy anything because even though that’s a great price for a decent cotton towel, I have no need for them.

The stores I shopped at had no black Friday deals, and no lines. Bought my stuff and came home.

I got my ass drunk.

ASDA (owned by Walmart) is trying to import this horrible day into the UK. All I did was go to work, then to the pub. There was queuing in the pub but I didn’t get my beer at a discount.

flutherother's avatar

I don’t think they have such a day up here yet. There is nothing that I need at the moment anyway.

janbb's avatar

There was a store in Paris that had a Balck Friday sign up. And they don’t even have Thanksgiving there!

Have you ever seen @Symbeline‘s ass drunk? It’s hilarious. The rest of her is just fine, but her ass starts falling over and stuff.

ibstubro's avatar

No, I’d probably end up assless, myself. ;)

Roll on the floor and laugh my ass off.
