Your address.

I’ve put my own on them before without any problem.

Thanks. My management company looks for any way to screw people over so I am trying to be careful.

The “address” refers to the address of the person who will endorse or “cash” the money order. It’s a holdover from the good old days, when folks asked for identification consisting of your name and address before cashing the money order. You can neglect or ignore the “address” line with no consequences.

@stanleybmanly I don’t think that is correct. Most money orders say “purchaser’s address” on that line. If this one just says address, I believe it is still the address of the person that purchased the money order, not the one that will cash it.

Your address…I used to work in a grocery store that sold money orders, and we got that question all the time. I think it helps trace it, or prove it’ is yours if stolen, etc.

@yankeetooter :: Thanks. That is what I ended up going with. I figured it at least showed where I was trying to pay rent for.

You’re welcome… : )

So often I have no clue about questions on here, so it was nice to know the answer to one for a change.

@Scaggfacemutt I stand corrected. Apologies.

@stanleybmanly :: No worries. This is why I asked Fluther instead of google. I like having people say this is wrong.
