Why do we quietly stress over which stall to use in a public restroom?

you could be in an airport, a restaurant or even at work. hey, when ya gotta go, ya gotta go. but if you cant get that prime toilet seat next to the wall, you just might hold it. two kinds of people in the world: “i’ll sit right in the stall next to you—i gotta go” and “i’ll just wait till the room clears because i am about to clear this room!”

I don’t think I’ve ever stressed over that. Is this what shrinks call “projecting”? Just kidding

I tend to like the last stall in the row best hoping (probably in vain) that fewer people have walked that far.

stall next to the wall is the best…

I like the handicap stalls. My claustrophobia acts up in the smaller ones.

I have read that the ones closest to the door are the cleanest, because like stated above people like to use the ones at the very end, so I like to use the first one.
