Wild goose chase to me, says that you chase after something that was impossible to get, usually because what you chase does not exist, and you were fooled into thinking it does.
That said I guess it depends. If something is real, a goal or a dream, it’s worth chasing if you want it really bad. Sometimes though, maybe you gots ta set a trap, and let it come to you.
Like I got this analogy for job searching. Looking for a job is like fishing. You use the proper bait depending on what you want to catch, you must be patient, and utilize the proper techniques against the type of fish you’re going for. It takes time, but if you’re good, you’ll get the fish. Of course, success is not guaranteed. The fish could make off with your bait, your line could break or…no matter how good you are, maybe people got there before you and caught all the fish already.
Or…you could just throw a huge fucking net in there, and you’ll be sure to get SOMEthing. Probably just garbage.
Or third, you could be some lazy faker, who just sits in the boat all day drinking beer and having naps, not paying attention to the line.
