Does Human Instrumentality seem like a good or bad thing to you?

“Great Question” (1points)

This link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Instrumentality_Project, leads to the topic of my question of what its asking about. Do you believe that by merging all human beings into one entity, not considering the differences of people, our minds not being bothered anymore by negative emotions and desires – that both make up some of the problems that we have trouble with today, and simply just existing, is a good way to live a life? Agree or disagree with this, you decide for yourselves.

Wow…one of the stranger questions to run into in awhile, but I think I’ll have to defer to
these folks for an expert opinion on the subject.

I didn’t read through that very complicated wikipedia article but from the description you gave

“merging all human beings into one entity, not considering the differences of people, our minds not being bothered anymore by negative emotions and desires… and simply just existing”

it doesn’t seem like that sort of existence would be worth any more than non-existence.

Its sounds like the plot from a science fiction film… oh it is the plot from a science fiction film.

To answer the question no I would not like to be assimilataed into some giant BORG hive mind thank you.

Right. I think there is a reason the wiki does not find the article up to their standard. To attempt to take this question in all seriousness (At least it is not “Do long distance relationships work?”), no.

Our infinite variety is part of the beauty of humanity. Being privy to everyone else’s thoughts, doubts and feelings sounds like an absolute nightmare. It is enough trying to deal with my own.

Losing my identity as one of a hive? Thanks, but no thanks.

I think it’s a ridiculous notion. It is thankfully right where it belongs… in the land of fiction.
