I live in central Florida, and it’s pretty much summer here unless otherwise notified.
When they’re affordable, I like to get watermelons, cantaloupes, and honeydew, slice off the tops, take a melon baller to them, put the balls back in the shell, return the top like a lid, and stick ‘em in the fridge. It’s nice to have a good, cold, wet piece of fruit to nosh on when it’s 90+ degrees outside. On the hottest days I’ll usually go without meat entirely. If I get lucky and the gardener down the road has a surplus, we can have fresh vegetables and hummus or sour cream dip for dinner a few days a week. Who wants to cook when it’s a billion degrees outside?
