No, I was a casual student and it caused some consternation with my college GF. She studied constantly, striving for a 4.0 (she came close). She would be in the library 3–4 hours a night studying, I would be there reading mags, SF books, roaming the stacks and maybe put in 30 minutes a night if I had a test coming up. If I could pass an exam with a B without any effort or an A with exertion, I always went with the B and went out to have a good time instead of studying.
I remember one “discussion” at the end of the semester, she had a high B and wanted an A in the course. If she aced the final she would get the points she needed. I asked what it would take to get a C to which she did the math and said a grade somewhere in the 40’s. So my question was why are you stressing over this? Even without a lick of study you can pass with a B and we can go out. I lost that discussion and she got her A.
