Honestly, @ARE_you_kidding_me, it was the most impressive trip of my lifetime. Make sure you stop in Flagstaff…I swear there was not so much as a cigarette butt on the ground and even the fast food workers acted like they knew me from high school. I liked to imagine I was an early settler, coming from Europe, or the East coast, never having seen a picture of the Canyon or the colors. The gray old Moonscape pales in comparison.
Not a camper, I slept the night in my car 2–3 times. Of course, I had no idea how cold the desert gets at night. Oh, and speaking of cold, I came back through a pass in the mountains that had, like, 3’ of snow, and me in a Cutlas. Made it through, pulled into the 1st motel I saw, and the couple ahead of me had the choice of the room with no phone, and the one with no TV. I got the last room at the Inn.
YES! I have traveled alone, and it was much better than with one other person!
