I don’t know all the modalities. And I know very little of “eastern medicine”, but I do know that I’ve heard good things of “energy work”. The thing is, it seems to vary from one person to another. I’ve been tremendously helped by it, but my friend doesn’t even have a name for what she does other than “energy work”, and I know that she wouldn’t call what she does “eastern medicine”.
Here is a wall-o-text on the issue, but the general findings are that things like acupuncture, herbal remedies, etcetera alone are notably less effective than medication alone, though the best is to use both.
Of course, therapy makes a huge difference since pills alone won’t really fix much, but that also requires cooperation on the part of the patient to succeed.
Have you considered nutrition along with functional medicine?
