I have a Samsung galaxy iv and for the past few days I have been unable to access any Google services on it including mail, play store and support. It is giving me an error message something like the security certificate is not recognised. I have run an anti virus scan with AVG and it comes up clean. What can I do?

I would go into Settings / Security and reset to Factory settings. Basically start over.

Can you confirm your date/time settings on your phone? If your date/time and timezone are correct and you are still getting the problem, you could trying clearing the cache on those apps and seeing if that does it. Otherwise, you might want to just bring it back to factory settings.

…or bring it back to the store. ;-)

Factory reset may clear this problem. If you want to save any texts or call logs, be sure to back those up.

I took it into the store and they told me yes, it needs a factory reset. But actually the date and time WAS wrong – no idea how that happened. Anyway, I re-set the date & time and now everything is working dandy. Thanks for the tip! @hominid you are a genius.
