I haven’t yet watched the last two episodes of Extant because I know that I have the option of catching up on On Demand. I wish all series were available that way.
About FS, I know that in the first season, so much was shot in darkness for budgetary reasons. It was easier not to have to show too much of the skitters.
But now, even in scenes involving no aliens at all, they’re still shot at night and it’s just too annoying.
And I certainly don’t expect a post-Apocalyptic world to be unrealistically pretty but between that and the night scenes, it’s just a chore to watch. Literally an eyestrain.
The only thing that’s kept me going is the depth of characters and the storylines but there’s a limit to how much eyestrain I’m willing to slog through night after night with absolutely no relief. I’m starting to not care and that’s a bad sign :(
In the beginning, when they placed some of the storyline in Chinatown with Lexi and the “reign of peace” it was a definite visual relief to all the murky chaos in the rest of it and I figured that maybe they were beginning to realize that all the unrelenting dark murkiness was annoying the viewers. But, apparently not because we are now back to square one on that issue.
