They pour tons of money into their candidate of choice, that is one way, another would be through intimidation saying that if the other guy gets in they will have to close up shop and all the employees will be out on their ears.
They do in a round about way. It costs big bucks to run and with out massive financial backing and a foot in the media’s bed it’s probably not going to happen. We get to “vote” for one of two assholes who are both bought by the same special interests regardless of what they “say” their stand on certain issues is or what party backs them. It does not matter what they say they will do. The agenda is set by those who held the purse strings. Some of our elections seem like two wolves and one sheep voting on what is for dinner.
Local elections are not immune but are less likely to be corrupted. We still have some voice there.
^Local elections are not immune but are less likely to be corrupted. We still have some voice there. You obviously don’t live in WV where most local elections and officials are corrupt.
You can vote all you want, it just doesn’t mean anything.
“The chances of your vote deciding an election in any state is less than 1 in 60 million. That is, we should expect a single person’s vote decide a presidential election about once every 240 million years. You are substantially more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the poll.” -more info
It also helps when mainstream media is owned by a handful of corporations who control our exposure to the candidates and can change public opinion about a candidate overnight.
