Here’s the thing. You’re majoring in a science which requires different perquisites than stuff from the arts (languages, humanities, everything non science!) So you will not only have to meet your bulk of the sciences, but you’ll have to meet the requirements for your minors. I know you’re new to college and what not, and “the more” seems merrier but the truth is it isn’t. If you get your science degree, your job isn’t going to give a damn whether or not you can speak Chinese or Spanish, unless you are in such a department that requires it, which is highly unlikely unless you are dealing with a company who has strong ties and connections to China or Spain/Mexico/South America. The truth is, you’re going to be hired upon your particular set of skills. In engineering they really want to know if you can do your projects well and work well with others. In my humble opinion, just focus on engineering and interning (NO INTERNING NO JOBS! THATS THE WAY ENGINEERING WORKS I’VE GOT 3 BUDDIES WHO INTERNED, ONE DOESN’T HAVE A JOB THE OTHER 2 DO BECAUSE THEY INTERNED). You can ALWAYS study language on yoru own free time, no point in minoring in it. If you apply to a place where they require language, they will siimply ask you if you can speak the language. Unless you were applying for Human Resources with another language that’s the only time I can imagine they (those hiring you) would give a damn whether or not you have an appreciation for the foreign language.
