@josie I know several guys who lost arms, legs, dicks and parts of their brains and nobody knows their name. Not minimizing her plight, but if she gets a cut of the taxpayers efforts, it shouldn’t be more than theirs.
In a perfect or logical world, what you said would be very true. We, however, live on a world where emotion often short circuit logic. Because of societies aversion to men like Phillip Garrido the path of least resistance is to say an experience e like hers, even if were only a few days would be much more traumatizing than someone who spent 15 months and 6 days in the jungles of Vietnam. To believe she is irreparably impaired would help in making the perpetrator a bigger monster; certainly good on the stomp in an election year when you can claim to be tough on crime.
@CWOTUS Granted what happened to her was horrible, but why should that provide her with disability income just because it happened?
Read the aforementioned text: ”Then the rapes by that nasty, sick motherfucker started and she became pregnant by him several times, as not much more than a child.”. That is the sentiment of many, she suffered needlessly because the parole officers did not do their job allowing Garrido to gratify himself with her a decade and more. You can’t punish him much more, unless you kill him, which in any case, you are not getting any cash out of him. It is not as much as it happened but by whom…..same as Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight, who suffered similar but different circumstances at the hands of Ariel Castro.
@Darth_Algar And no, a disability income is not “hefty”. It’s barely enough to survive on.
I know it isn’t, but there are people who believe an exception should be made in her case and (and the other three) she get more, because of what she endured and the belief that because of such, she can never have a normal live, however that can be quantified. In short, whatever that guy is getting with a blown out hip, she should get like 10 to 20 times more.
