Synvisc is basically intended to partially make up for the lost cushioning cartilage in the knee.
There are also products which do similar which go by other names (that I can’t remember offhand) but I think they’re all derived from cock’s comb (also a form of cartilage).
But ask your Dr. if they’ve developed any products (which act as substitute cartilage) NOT involving products which could affect egg sensitive individuals.
With all the developments of modern medicine, it’s a possibility. But your Doc should know for sure.
But the usual course is to start with cortisone first. Then, when that doesn’t do the trick anymore, then to go on to Synvisc or similar products.
Another thing I’ve been seeing advertisements for is a newer procedure termed “minimally invasive” knee surgery. Since it seems as if you’re in the beginning stages, it might be worthwhile to see if there is anyone doing this in your local area and schedule a consult to see if this might be suitable for you.
If this were an option for me, I’d definitely be looking into it but my knees are way too shot. I’ve looked at my X-Rays.
