Nope. Quite the opposite – I’m glad to see these backwards, hypocritical cunts off the air.

It should never have been aired.

OMG, they were portrayed as being so wonderful, and they were sheltering a child molester.

They should replace it with a show called “19 Condoms and Counting”

Never saw it. Won’t miss it.

It was an embarrassment. Hard to believe that the network thought it was worth airing in the first place, and it’s even harder to believe that people lament its passing.

That whole family makes a great case for proactive birth control.

Which was worse? 19 and Counting? or the Honey Boo-Boo show?

I watched a few episodes and didn’t really get how it could attract more interest than an episode or two. How many times can “watch this freaky big family drink 3 gallons of milk at one meal!” be interesting?

I’ll admit that most of those shows where you look into someone’s life has never interested me beyond a few episodes either. The only one I really found somewhat interesting was the guy with 4 wives. It was interesting for a few episodes to see how the wives felt about sharing their husband without being jealous.

TLC: yet one more reason why I don’t miss cable service at all.

I didn’t watch it so I certainly won’t miss it a bit.

As for TLC, occasionally they do fond a gem among all the junk.

“The Little Couple” is actually a genuine attempt to educate people about the lives of a dwarf couple who have struggled fertility issues as well as a very serious and rare cancer.

The wife is an MD at Texas Childrens Hospital and the husband is a business owner.

They’ve also adopted two children, both dwarfs, from around the world. One from China, the other from India.

Both of them are intelligent, positive and sensible people and it’s a both joyful and educational to watch their show. There is a refreshing lack of the sensationalism or infighting present on so many other “reality” shows (like the various housewives series or Honey Boo Boo).

It’s not a freak show. Just simple slice of life documentary which elevates the franchise.

So, every once in a while TLC does get it right. But so much of the rest of their stiff is exploitative crap.

Okay, @Buttonstc, I can’t watch full episodes, or even extended clips, of TV shows.

I watched a few short clips of “The Little Couple” and it looks like a good show that can educate and entertain in the ‘reality TV’ format. A Rarity.

Jury’s out on the impact on the immediate family.

I had taped this earlier and didn’t get a chance to watch it till just now but you may find it interesting.

“I Am Jazz” just started but she has been on TV before when Barbara Walters interviewed her and her parents when she was age 5.

Even then, at that young age, she knew and it was obvious to her parents and medical professionals that she was a transgender child.

Even tho born male, from as early as 2 yrs. old she consistently preferred sparkly pretty things and repeatedly insisted that she was a girl.

Fortunately she has unusually supportive and understanding parents and family who are continually learning and educating themselves on all that being transgender involves , socially, medically etc.

Even tho I’ve only seen the first episode, I’m finding it pretty fascinating and refreshingly honest, straightforward and non-exploitative so far. Hopefully it will continue that way.

Oddly enough, it’s also on TLC. Perhaps the entire over-the-top fiasco that was Honey Boo Boo taught them a lesson or two about cheap exploitative crap sooner or later coming back to bite you in the ass :)

Or maybe it’s just a giant coincidence that they’ve managed to air two decent shows at the same time.

Anyhow, I think you’ll have a much easier time finding the first episode of “I Am Jazz” since it’s just beginning. (The third season of The Little Couple just recently finished airing so there’s not as much publicity surrounding it.)

After seeing this question I googled it and the article i saw describes them with a tone of admiration, and I thought “how come THAT is successful?”
And the answers above let me know that I’m not a freak, thank you.
