Probably $300—$400. Small town.
When I moved here, I managed to secure a 3 bedroom “apartment” that was really the bottom floor of a huge, old house. Walked in the front door, into the living room, and there was a fire place. To the right was a set of French doors that led to a “parlor” (no closet) which was used as the 3rd bedroom
To the left of the fire place was another set of French doors which led to a huge dining room. Off of that was a small kitchen.
To the right of the dining room was a hallway which led to the 2 official bedrooms and the bathroom was at the end of the hall.
Huge covered porch.
It was about 1400 sq feet.
My Dr. lived just up the street, and one of the VP’s of the college lived next door. The house across the street was trash. But…that’s how this town rolls. You aren’t forced into “seedy” parts of town because of your income.
$350. a month.
BUT, to be fair, the dipshit landlord had no idea what he had. He was a slum lord, overall. The outside was trashed. The inside was trashed as well, when I moved in. I spent a year cleaning and painting….he could have rented it for $700, easy, when I got done.
Several years later my daughter and her husband moved back in. (Her son, who I raised for the first 5 years, and who was about 6 at the time walked in and said, “This is the house I grew up in!) Anyway, they pulled up the carpet and refinished the floors.
With a little TLC the whole house could have been a gold mine for some landlord.
