I suppose you could look it up, but my guess is that anyone involved in the business of deception or exploiting exploiting human gullibility would be fairly skeptical of hucksters regardless of what they’re pushing. Any carnival barker can be installed in a pulpit and who would know the difference?
It’s what you would expect. The parallels are just too striking with the 2 “professions”. The difference is that magicians cop to the fact that they’re in the business of tricks while the preacher gets by with the mere promise that if you spend a lifetime paying admissions and fees, you’ll get your money’s worth in the “next world”.
