Should, or could, lady liberty be on the American $10 bill?

Americans were told to pick a female on the $10 . Why not pick the statute of liberty?

Because according to US law, only the portrait of a deceased individual may appear on United States currency and securities. Lady Liberty was never a real person, though, since she’s based on Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty.

It should be Jeanette Rankin.

It was designed by a French guy, built by a French guy, and was a gift from the French.

It depicts Libertas, an ancient Roman goddess.

What’s American about it? (yes, the US Independence Day (7/4/1776) is on the book she’s holding, but that’s about it)
