Americans were told to pick a female on the $10 . Why not pick the statute of liberty?
Because according to US law, only the portrait of a deceased individual may appear on United States currency and securities. Lady Liberty was never a real person, though, since she’s based on Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty.
It should be Jeanette Rankin.
It was designed by a French guy, built by a French guy, and was a gift from the French.
It depicts Libertas, an ancient Roman goddess.
What’s American about it? (yes, the US Independence Day (7/4/1776) is on the book she’s holding, but that’s about it)
How ‘bout Betsy Ross? Anyone have any idea what she actually looked like?
I could go for one of these
How about Nancy Reagan when she passes on.
@talljasperman
