If anything, I feel that it’s not due to there being more mtf transitions, but they tend to receive the most attention in the media and at times for good reasons (like a proportionally RIDICULOUS number of hate crimes committed to them when compared to others within the LGBTQIA demographic). Affirmed males are generally more accepted by society as indicated by several studies such as one done in 2009 discussed in Doing Gender, Doing Heteronormativity: “Gender Normals,” Transgender People, and the Social Maintenance of Heterosexuality (that isn’t to say everything is peaches and sunshine, far from it, affirmed males are, in short, rather avoided by the heteronormative members of society i.e. most people as we do live pretty much in a world that puts heavy emphasis on heterosexual stereotypes in our day to day lives). Affirmed females on the other hand, well, aren’t. They see a higher rate of harassment in the workplace and so, a higher rate of unemployment (Social, psychological and economic challenges faced by transgender individuals and their significant others: Gaining insight through personal narratives, done in 2013), a higher rate of violence committed against them, higher rate of murders in said acts of violence (Doing Gender, Doing Heteronormativity article that I mentioned above), and what seems to be a higher rate of suicide/suicidal ideation/suicide attempts (I use “what seems” because while most studies I’ve gone over indicate that affirmed females have a higher rate of suicide and suicide related behaviors, a few have indicated the opposite with affirmed males having the higher rate) – the transgender community at large has already an alarmingly high rate of suicide as is.
I think your question is a good one (generally speaking) in an honest pursuit for knowledge. Assuming that you’re an open minded individual who cares for his or her fellow human being, I recommend you try to stop using the term “tranny” (as well as several others but I only noticed tranny in your elaboration. It’s offensive to the transgender population, although members of said population use it in the same manner as some African Americans will use the term nigger, or some women will use the term twat. If you aren’t a close friend or are a transgender individual/African American/female/etc. and you use it, it’s offensive. So like racial terms and whatnot, I’d suggest you remove it from your vocabulary.
