I give him/her some of both, 8 weeks is still very little. I would keep kitten chow out to free feed on and then give him/her a couple spoonfuls of canned food morning and night. Keep plenty of fresh water on hand too. Cats can free feed unlike most dogs and a growing kitten should have access to food whenever it wants it 24/7.
In the warmer weather my cats eat and drink more during the night when it is cooler. They free feed on dry food and get a half can each of wet food every afternoon. Keep her warm if you give him/her a bath and don’t let them get chilled depending on the weather in your area. Also, do not let them outside alone at such a young age and being new to your home.
Keep the kitten inside for several months unless supervised outside for short periods. Little kittens can get swooped up by hawks and owls easily or get lost.
