Do you know of any sites like Blah Therapy?

I’m looking for one where you can talk to a random person, preferably about mental health issues. I don’t want one with therapists (I want to be the listener (helping people with their problems distracts me from mine)). Blah Therapy sounds like what I’m looking for, but the chat isn’t working. Are there any others?

I know that in real life there is a network of folks helping each other called Peer Counseling.

I’ve heard good things about it but since you specified online, I don’t know if you’d be interested.

Here’s some info on a national organization which has grow into an international one.

At least it can give you something to start with and perhaps they can refer you to a specigically online resource if that’s what you’d prefer.

There’s another place called 7 cups (which apparently also has an app available in Google Play) and here’s a little info.

From the few reviews I’ve read, my impression of blah therapy isn’t that favorable. But perhaps I’m just put off by the name.

I don’t know that 7 cups is significantly better, but my impression of it is better.

Just keep in mind that either of these anonymous sites have the potential for a situation to turn dicey. Before you start interacting with either of them, do your homework thoroughly and be cautious.

Use a different screen name to your usual and NEVER reveal any personal info or pics enabling someone to possibly track you down.

And I don’t just mean specific ibfo , even general stuff like the region where you live or what school you attend or which business you work for.

Apparent blah therapy is totally unmoderated and I’m not sure about 7 cups.

Also, if you’re dealing with serious issues like depression, addiction, suicide, this is not for amateurs. Get professional help.

If you just need to vent due to a lousy day or annoying neighbor, perhaps a site like these could be helpfu . But just be careful.

And let me not forget to state the obvious. If you enjoy helping people, now that you’ve joined Fluther, hang around a bit.

There are opportunities to help people right here (plus a chatroom) Plus, if anything gets out of hand, theres a great helpful and intelligent Moderation team (all volunteers)

Just something else to consider :)

We love getting newbies here so if you see a question and feel you can help, don’t hesitate to jump right in. The water’s fine.
