does this photo make the trip worth it. The risk, the constant reminder of mortality.

The constant reminder of human cruelty, desperation and lack of diplomatic channels, you mean?
Human mortality is a given.
Violence… not so sure.

not sure I understand the question… Are you asking if the dead Arab justifies the war, or if the photo itself justifies the journalist’s trip?

I say photography is possibly the best media, as almost everyone can relate and it effects them emotionally. Everyone can make a story up for a picture, and if you can’t you’re brain dead.

It depends where you go. I have been all over Israel for a couple months and contrary to what the media shows it is not as dangerous and poor as it seems.

The photo is strangely conceptualized. I mean it looks like a Renaissance painting.

Journalists are known for staging photos. All the dolls and teddy bears laying near a destroyed home after an earthquake or a war are put there to give a photo a stronger message.
