What's the most scandalous thing you've ever experienced or witnessed in the workplace?

“Great Question” (4points)

As asked.

For me, it happened at a regional CPA firm. One of the partners was an odd man with an off-putting demeanor. Besides having a creepy demeanor, he would often disappear for a week or more without saying where he might be. Working on-site for a client? Telecommuting? On vacation? Nobody knew.

The mystery was solved when he got arrested and splashed all over the news media. The guy had a photography studio in his basement, which he’d been using to create child pornography. He sold and distributed the pornography online. He was also a frequent customer of an underage prostitute.

So, we finally knew what this upstanding citizen had been doing with his time, while he collected a hefty salary but didn’t show up for work.

Being accused of making a phone call to a co-worker’s wife about her husband’s supposed infidelity. So said the branch manager, who it was later found out, was his own wife who made the call, he knew it and covered it up.

Getting caught as a teenager in a linen closet with a woman 10 years older than myself. The security guard was making his rounds and his reaction was the smoothest thing I’ve ever seen. Recognizing both of us, his only comment was “you 2 wanna wrap it up? It’s time to go home”. He then shut the door, and proceeded routinely with his rounds. I never heard a word from anyone about the incident. That man was a class act.

I had a woman who was a vice president on my staff. She had a corner office with windows overlooking two streets in San Francisco, on the second floor.

The next day I get a call from the building, “please have whoever is in the corner office pull their blinds shut when they are having sex on the desk. It was visible up and down the street.”

The man she was with was not her husband (who worked here) but rather a member of the Board. When she ended up pregnant, the father was not her husband, not her boyfriend, but rather the Board member.

I was tipped off by a competitor I did not know that an employee was selling stolen product to someone that was in competition with him and this stolen materials was hurting his business too. The name he offered was my partner. I hired a private investigator, set up surveillance camera’s and a month later caught my partner red handed on video. I guess it was scandalous but having to fire my partner was far more upsetting than anything.

I used to work in the children’s section of the local public library. A junior high class was on a field trip to said library, and one of them was caught giving blow jobs to classmates in one of our aisles.

With whom was he producing this stuff with, just the under-aged prostitute? In there were other kids, how did he shut them up, keep them from squealing?

Even if none of you had any clothes missing, if any touching over the clothes or swapping spit was going on, how can he be a class act, according to Fluther, even if you were 13 at ten years your senior she would have been 21, so he would have been enabling some perv to make merchandise of you, even if you enjoyed yourself at 13 you were too stupid to know you were being had sexually. ~~ in the US Hypocrisy knows no favorites……

I don’t play attention to other’s work business, the only scandal (if one could call it that) I did myself. I had a contract cleaning an office building and one of the gals I hired some of the time (she was petite and hot!) said something like I should kiss her feet, and I told her only if I could kiss my way up to where he legs meet her body, and too my surprised she agreed so we ended up in an empty office and I removed her jeans and kissed my way up her legs…and then some, all the while listening to radio chatter from the police office that was on the other side of the wall.

The teenaged prostitute was in addition to the kiddie-porn business. She’s the reason he got caught. The underage prostitute had been arrested, and she was more than happy to share her client base in exchange for leniency. Law enforcement searched this guy’s online activity and discovered the child pornography.

I’m not sure how he found the other kids, or how he kept them quiet. Paying-off the parents? Grooming and intimidating? I’m reaching here, because I never heard that part of the story.

Sadly, all the charges were dropped against this man. He wasn’t selling kiddie-porn to retail consumers, but to large distributors. The D.A. gave him immunity in return for the “bigger fish.”

Again, in the US hypocrisy knows no favorites. I can imagine how anyone would respect the refs in a football or basketball game if they only decided to charge players they did not like with fouls and penalties but the superstars that the fans like they let get way with just about everything under the sun except something so flagrant they could not ignore it. Justice? Seems to be “just us poor folk”

When I was just starting my career I worked in a huge country wide known insurance company. We employed about 400 people. The president of the company started having an affair with a secretary and quickly made her a manger in a department she had no idea how to run. She got pregnant and had his baby. This is all on the quiet, but it was a widely known secret. He was married with 2 other children. Apparently she started making demands on his money and time. He bought her a town house and gave her lots of money, all embezzled from our company.
I don’t remember how it all came out, but he got fired, the company had to lay off almost 200 people, and thousands were without insurance that they had already paid for all because these two people created their own mess. A friend of mine was one of the people who had insurance through this company and was having a baby, but because of the bankruptcy, she ended up having to pay the hospital and doctor bills herself.
It was a huge scandal, lives were changed, people lost jobs. Last I heard, his wife stayed with him and they moved away.

I was about 16 and my optometrist offered me a job as his receptionist. On the first day he insisted on checking my eyes and tried to hypnotise me. After the first time (I wasn’t hypnotised ever), I mentioned it to my dad who thought I was winding him up. The second time he did it I started laughing. He sacked me. Sighs… that was the end of that job. Thankfully I was never hypnotised. He thought I was and would say things like “Raise your right arm. Raise your left arm” etc. Very, very weird. I’m pretty sure it could have got a lot worse, so I’m glad I laughed and got fired.

Heard about stories of local head of private institution involved in sexual activities with teaching staff. Didn’t spare poor secretary as well. No direct info but got it from working staff ( peons) not sure if pervert was caught / reported by someone or not.

A coworker who didn’t like me ran into me and nearly knocked me off my feet. Several secretaries were there in the room at the time but nobody “Noticed” anything unusual. Besides being illegal, it was pretty eerie. Not wanting to land in the hospital, and the fact that my boss refused to do anything about it I quit a few days later without notice.
