Well, I once had my own funeral.
Faked my death with a special chemical.
Woke up in the middle of the ceremony, and then killed all the attendees.
There is a video tape of the event

@ragingloli Wow…That is one realistic video…Right down to the number of rounds (standard clip/magazine) that can be fired from a 1911 variant pistol.

Thanks for your answer.

I have been to a few parties paid for by the deceased, who asked to be remembered with a good party. Makes for an interesting memorial, people feel much less guarded than at many regular parties.

azlotto's avatar

@zenvelo I think a lot of cultures practice the same ritual.

Thanks for your answer.

Sure. I’ve been to a party of that one old man. He was the neighbour of mine, Milorad. We had the trumpeters and two pigs roasted on the skewer. Everyone came to celebrate his departure. It was his last wish to make a party. The priest was there too, drank a half liter of rakija. He even took the pork meat, even though it was a time of fasting. He said “It’s for his soul”.

It was a bit inconsiderate of the singer to come in those crocodile print cowboy boots, but that is a minor annoyance. We all forgot bout it after the fifth rakija anyways.

Cool party. Would 10/10 go there again.

May you rest in peace, Milorad, you old fart.

@Sneki95 Umm, my condolence?

Thanks for your answer.

No but I went to a retirement party that the retiree refused to attend.
We had a ball, extra pizza because he and his wife didn’t come. He had been with the company for almost 35 years. His boss give a nice farewell speech. We sorta he would be a no show. We needed a party that month after work. Didn’t want to plan a big steak dinner.

@Tropical_Willie ..“Didn’t want to plan a big steak dinner.”

Round here, I can’t get a decent steak to grill…They’re always gristly and tasteless…and expensive.

Thanks for your answer.

@azlotto We had a Steakhouse that had great steaks and lobsters, in Connecticut. They had three banquet rooms. Choice and prime only for steaks. Many many retirements at that place.

My wedding reception (on Halloween) was one.

azlotto's avatar

@SecondHandStoke I don’t know if that was a sad occasion for you (I hope not), but believe it or not, I got married on Halloween.

Yes. I constantly get mail from the Republicans.

I’ve been to a few wakes. Some of them as raucous as the deceased. I never miss a proper wake.

Everybody’s coming, leave your body at the door.

No, I haven’t been to one, but I’m reminded of the story Tuesday’s with Morrie. Didn’t he have a funeral service before he died? I might be confusing stories.

azlotto's avatar

@JLeslie “Everybody’s coming, leave your body at the door” ...You got that :)

As far as the rest of your answer, I’m confused (but that’s not hard to do).

Thank you.

I hope I’m not the only person who got it?!

The rest is just me rambling. It’s a very nice story. I’ve only seen the movie.

I was in a workshop once where as participants we were assigned to write our own obituaries. The next session, each one of us (there were six) were to lay on a table as if we were deceased, while the others read the obituary and delivered eulogies.

ragingloli's avatar

@Yetanotheruser
I copy-pasted my own eulogy once.

Strauss's avatar

@ragingloli did you find it an “enlivening” experience?

ragingloli's avatar

I think, it was exhilarious.
