Fluther "mark-up" is a simplified sub-set of Textile. Why not include bullet points?

“Great Question” (0points)

There have been more than a couple of substantive questions where my answers would have been best segmented into a bullet or numerically itemized list. One just occurred and I decided to forego answering since it would have been an awkward answer without the segmentation.

Could bullet pointing be included in the next up-date? Please….

Why don’t you manually segment? Most of us are smart enough to infer from context what you might be trying to say. It’s not that much extra effort.

I’m smart enough to do that, and I have more insurance…

That said, for the questions that deserve bullet-pointed responses, it seems to me that the presentation would be appreciated by both the questioner and the readers.

I just noticed how new you are to Fluther (welcome, by the way). The founders keep this site going as a courtesy to the users, but do not initiate upgrades or improvements anymore. Sometimes they come by and fix stuff, but no new stuff is coming down the pike.

The main reasons are:

• The site’s founders, Ben and Andrew, only get involved for major overhauls (like upgrading the site servers).
• All other development on the site these days is done by two volunteers (Mariah and PhiNotPi), who already have a few projects on deck.
• It’s already possible to do bullet points using standard text entry (Option-8 on my keyboard).

That said, it would be nice to have an option for actual list formatting, complete with hanging indentations. I’ll pass it on.

Well can’t we just use the keyboard dot?

●Such as this?

You don’t have the line underneath, but you could always use Fluther’s emphasis thing;

Such as so.

Or in bold maybe;

Fluther kicks ass.

- If you don’t want to use a special character…
– Hyphens make fine bullet points.
– Sorry, I am not in a position to add anything to the site right now.

I do make bullets sometimes, like this:

• point 1
• point 2

That’s ampersand (&) plus “bull” plus semicolon (;), without spaces in between.

There’s also this old thread about text effects:

There’s no keyboard dot on my computer.

I was a tad vague about my dot. It’s found in “symbols”, row two of my Samsung tablet. I don’t know what it is called, although it is bigger than the bullet point one. I just thought that if I have that on my tablet, it must be on PC’s too. Guess not, I made that assumption on the fact that tablets are extremely limited compared to computers. (but they ae built around Facebook like phones are I suppose, so of course it would have tons of symbols and emoticons and crap)

@Jeruba “There’s no keyboard dot on my computer.”

There’s no keyboard dot on anyone’s computer, as far as I know. It’s a special character that requires more than one key to be pressed (e.g., the Option key and the 8 key, as on my keyboard, or some other combination).
