hey, yea the Ubuntu forums are awesome. I’ve always had all of my questions answered there very quickly. For this though I’m guessing you see something like:

With a cursor blinking by the user. When you installed Ubuntu, you set up one account with a username and password. Enter that information and once you log on, you should see something like this:
Linux peanutcomputer 2.6.24–16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008 i686

Now you will be back at what’s called the command line. If you have a window manager properly installed you should be able to type the following command to have a desktop boot up:
startx
