I have always looked younger than I am, until about the last 10 years. When I was in my early 30’s I played competititve co-ed. We’d played together for over a year, when, for some reason, a player asked how old I was. I said, “34.” He looked at me and said, “Oh, wow. All this time I thought you were one of “us,” indicating the other players, all of whom were in their early to mid 20’s. That kind of hurt. I hadn’t even thought about it until then.
Another time was in a town about 10 miles from my home town. My 2 year old grandson was with me. It was dark, and we got a flat tyre. I was about 37 at the time. A cop stopped to help, and it came out that the child was my grandson. He peered at me and said, “Maybe it’s just this light, but there is no way you look old enough to have a grandson!”
Another time, around that same time, I honestly got carded at a liquor store! He would not accept a picture of my grandson as proof, either! Hadda go out and get my license. Me around that time.
