Felt like I was dying/passing out while trying to sleep?

“Great Question” (3points)

Last night was like any night, until I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t fall back to sleep. I decided to get into a different position to see if that could help me sleep. I closed my eyes again and then all of a sudden my eyes felt very heavy, my breathing almost stopped, and my head dropped hard on to the pillow and I couldn’t control it. I was scared of what was happening so I “woke” myself up. Minutes later I tried to fall asleep again (in the same position) and the same phenomenon happened again. I then switched positions, and fell back to sleep like I should have.

Why do you think this happened??

You provide zero information on your age, weight and med history that I would expect no one here to offer any other suggestion but to go see a physician to share this episode with them and get your vitals checked. Good luck.

It almost sounds like a “waking dream.” But ,as mentioned above, not enough details.

I have a history with waking dreams, and they suck. I pretty much have to get up and then go back to sleep later. Otherwise it will reoccur over and over again.

I’m also a “lucid dreamer,” and I’ve read that there is a link.between the two. If you have never had lucid dreaming,it means that I can control many aspects of my dreams. I can fly, breathe underwater, and provide myself with armor, or weapons in a nightmare. I guess im.saying I’m willing to put up with the waking dreams, in trade for the lucid dreaming.

If you are also a lucid dreamer, this could explain some things. Again, not enough information.

I’ve also had this sensation before when trying to sleep. Not sure what it is but could be a form of sleep paralysis or anxiety.
