Easter isn’t even until April and I noticed the original yarnpocowhatever was done in April. I’m so confused as to why this was started in March.

No-one can predict when such an outbreak will occur. As has been said, the EPA is investigating. You should just take precautions to avoid being infected. Perhaps stick to man-made fibres where possible.
