Bullying isn’t worse, we’re just more aware of it and don’t allow kids to resolve it themselves. And digital media spreads it faster. On top of that, parents have held schools and school boards accountable to the point of law suits.

But I know a lot of women who went to high school in the 70s that felt bullied all through high school. I also know guys that were picked on for being different or “strange.”

I have impression that it did get worse. I hear a lot of stories here about kids bullying each other and teachers and practically get away with it, with nothing more than “don’t do that” and a short lament on the news. It was unimaginable to insult a teacher, let alone bully or hit him/her when I went to school. Even the kids weren’t that violent to each other either. At least I have that feel.

I would say no. Cyber bullying is certainly up. But physically, it’s less. When I went to school, nobody stopped it, ever…
Now, you can complain, and there’s an effort to stop it.

No. It is becoming more accessible to more people. It used to be the person with the best growth spirt was the bully. Now anyone can join in.

I feel like it’s impossible to know. I think bullying has always been incredibly under-reported. I think now adults take it more seriously than they did years ago.

Bullies usually grow up and continue the same thing. Lots of kids learn it from their parents.

I know there are honest policemen, but I wonder if lots of policemen end up in law enforcement because they can do what they never could as a child. Or they go into law enforcement so they can continue being a bully.
