Yep. I’ve been so dirty from doing some project in my woods or digging or grading that I’ve taken off my clothes and hosed myself off outside. I think the last time I did it was when I was putting in my patio. I was covered in mud several times.

Absolutely. All involved skinny-dipping, including a pool, a creek, and the ocean. It’s lovely to feel cool water on bare skin after a summer day’s heat.

@LuckyGuy . Where I normally get naked is on a long stretch of the Edisto River. In the late summer it’s usually only a foot deep or so. It’s an enchanting, gorgeous black water river. There aren’t any mosquitoes on the river. I’m not sure why. If you walk a few yards into the swamp, they’ll carry you away. But in a kayak, or canoe, you just have to worry about the occasional horse fly.

I don’t usually submerge myself though. There are countless tiny fish that nibble on your body hair. It’s painless, but there are some places, I just don’t like them nibbling…

In the salt water, crabs will ruin the experience quickly.

The one of the gems in our region is Zoar Valley , home to over 30 waterfalls. The water is crystal clear, well oxygenated, fast moving and ice cold. Very refreshing. Zoar is one of the few places on the planet that still has primal forest!

The place is huge, and isolated with no services. There are many places to pull off and hang out without seeing anyone for days. Western NY is like a different planet from the New York that first comes to people’s minds.

The town of Springville is nearby if you wimp out and want food or lodging.

Parts of the Edisto have been developed. In a 24 mile trip, the river can narrow to the point of having to carefully push through cypress trees, or be 50 or so yards wide. Some places have houses. One spot always has angry ducks. 1–95 and a few other roads pass over it a couple times. And there is a giant, rusty old power plant close to where I usually park downriver. I like the diversity, but prefer the desolate, natural parts.

The first time I got naked there, there was a terrible storm that came up a few hours later. It was lightning like 10–30 times a minute, with heavy blowing rain. I have been through dozens of Hurricanes, but that storm scared the shit out of me. I had to lay flat against a mud bank for a couple hours. The rain made the swamp flood,and debris, and insects were pouring over me. I had no phone, no source of light,or food. I was stuck out there for 10 hours. Barely got back to my truck by the time it was too dark to see. During the storm, I wondered if I pissed mother nature off by getting naked. But she saw me through the storm, so I still go nude sometimes. My biggest fear is having a girl scout troop come around a corner whilst I’m wading around in my birthday suit.

Many times in life, I wish I could dissappear in a place like Zoar. If I ever go to NY, I’d rather visit there than the big city.

Yeah, I used to like jogging at night down this country road in front of my parent’s house.
