– Camping in an RV with hookups for water, electricity and waste?

Drive up tent camping is 15–25 bucks. Back country permits are like 12 dollars. Rv camping is more expensive and a KOA or equivalent tent or cabin is even more than that.

Tent camping in state parks in North Carolina, $25 per night and if you make a reservation in advance there a surcharge of $3 per night /reservation (covers the cost of reservation system)

My property is available for free. And I have hookups for water and electricity. ;-)

I always had an RV. No tent camping for me. There are bugs out there.

My all time record for guest RVs was 6 campers. 5 had hook ups! I was hosting a week long event. My water and electricity handled it beautifully.

Last fall we paid $18/night for camping in a Colorado state park on the Arkansas River, plus a vehicle pass is $7/day or $70/year.

We slept in tents but the campground accommodates RVs up to 50 feet.

Clean bathrooms. No water or electric hookups.

I think it is a lot more if you have an RV and need electrical hook-ups than if you are just tent camping. I would think it could add up pretty fast.

I prefer glamping where one stays in a tee-pee kind of affair complete with bedding & soft furnishings.
The price is right if you know the owners…nudge, nudge…wink, wink.

LOL. St. Lucia here. It’s a small island and camping is heavily regulated. About $650 per night. You can go for an overnight sail for about $500. Or a sunset cruise for a few hours on a nice 42 footer for about $300, off season, champagne and finger food included.

Sail here in your own sailboat and you can moor off a nice little fishing village or a fancy hotel’s beach for free and take the dinghy in for groceries and sightseeing. Once a week you might need to pull into a marina to fill your water tanks, LP gas and properly dispose of your waste water. That will cost you about $500 for full service.

@Espiritus_Corvus, I loved St Lucia! We’d drop the hook ‘tween the ‘tons and spend a few days recharging our souls. You’re fortunate to be there.

I believe it’s also different if you’re in a privately owned campground vs. a state park.

I read somewhere (and see that it’s true) that Walmart parking lots are very popular places for people to park their RV and stay overnight. It’s free, it’s lit and monitored, there are plenty of provisions for sale in Walmart and bathrooms, too.

Depends on the park and the size/features of the spot. Very often $8/night, or $17–24 at some parks for a big site with certain features.

I just clicked on “private campgrounds in CT” and clicked on one, the Highland Campground in Scotland CT. I see the rate is 34 bucks a night, includes water and electric.

It varies quite a bit around here. To hook up an RV? In the immediate are I think it’s anything from $20 to $50 this time of year if my info is correct. I think Disney is $80? Disney is an hour from me; it might be more this time of year.

If you mean using a space to put up a tent, it is free in some walk-in spaces, and $10 to $15 in developed spaces with toilets and/or showers. RV spaces are anywhere from $20 to $50.

@Zaku Yes, for lots of people, camping is sleeping in an RV or trailer. Not for me, but I appreciate that this is a lot closer to nature than staying in a hotel.

You can’t camp where I live; the neighbors get upset.

There are large differences between private (usually the cheapest), provincial/state, and national (usually the most expensive). Every state/province produces a free camping guide (available at tourism kiosks) that provides a map of campgrounds and a list of amenities and prices for each camp. Some private campgrounds don’t make it into these lists for whatever reason, so they’re not perfect, but they’ll give you an idea of the price ranges and allow you to plan a trip in advance or on the road.

Most states also post these online, but the quality of the sites is variable and sometimes they are hard to navigate.
