My state is California. Most people love tacos and rain. It almost never rains here, that’s why people like it. And with the tacos, well they’re tacos!

Queensland, Australia. Rugby League. Mangoes. Seafood – particularly prawns, barramundi, mud crabs, Moreton Bay Bugs. Pineapple. Bananas. The beach.

The moderate Massachusetts summers.

In Massachusetts, a lot of folks love the Sox, the Pats, the Celts, and the Bruins. Sports are religion here to a lot of people.

Food wise, a good cannoli, slice of pizza, or roast beef sandwich will get you far. Of course, scallops and clams are summer staples and you can’t drive a mile without seeing people lined up at a Dunkin Donuts.

New York (southern region aka “metro area” as opposed to “upstate”), it’s definitely pizza. Everyone has their favorite pizza place. We like a thin crust, not bready. A crisp crust but not burnt. It can’t be raw either. The closer to the city you go, the more places there are available that have good pizza.

CA. here and yep, mexican food, the beaches, the mountains, skiing, surfing and good CA. wines.

The Toyota Prius – at least in this northern, bluer-than-blue section of Virginia, just across the river from Washington, DC. One can go into any parking lot or garage and start counting the Priuses.

My husband and I each have a Prius. We fondly call them “the Prii” (pronounced PREE-eye).

We all have our loves, likes, and dislikes, but the one thing we all love together is money$ sorry if that upsets you.

I don’t think most people value money more than anything. Of course it’s important, but as long as people can pay their bills, I would think family and their loved ones are more important to most people. Money is a necessity, it isn’t something we all desire and crave more than anything else.

Because people don’t believe it’s true @SQUEEKY2. You believe it, but just because you think that doesn’t make it a fact. You said nobody said their children or spouse, but nobody said money either. Money isn’t unique to any particular state. Are you from Ontario? Is money the thing most Ontarians love more than anything else? More than British Columbians? I doubt that. I’m sure there are things that Ontarians would say they love that make them distinct from other states in Canada.

Because saying money makes you sound cold and careless, that is why no one will admit it’s money.

I thought the question meant regional likes, foods, cars, activities etc. Sure, money provides but it doesn’t replace the things people like, enjoy such as friends, family, pets, hobbies.

@cookieman Several times during the summer the city will sponsor public events, complete with music onstage as well as buskers. These events are free to the public. They also have about 10 food truck spots, for trucks that are owned locally. The truck fare ranges from tacos, burritos, etc.; to barbecue (sometimes more exotic meats, such as elk, venison, or antelope); oriental (Korean, Vietnamese, Thai); African cuisine (Ethiopian, Kenyan, Togolese), and more. There are at least 193 different ethnicities recognize in this city, and they all have good food to represent their individual cultures.

Fluther field trip!!

In this town we have an annual Bluegrass festival. Been going on since 1970. It flat takes over the town. In addition to all the foreigners, even from around the world, coming in and camping or participating, the people of the town itself get into it. They have singing and guitar picking on every street corner for two weeks prior to the event. Barbques pop up in the most random places all over town. Kids pitch tents in their yards.
It’s held at the fairgrounds / campgrounds. It’s still 3 weeks away and the fairgrounds are already filling up with campers.
Last year I worked the event. Got to meet some handsome guys from Ireland who were competing. They had the little girls just fainting all over the place.
It has a ripple affect, spreads to all the nearby communities and even out to the lake. Everybody grabs a guitar, even people who can’t play a guitar.
Fun times.

Californians love growing their own in our stellar climate. The hills are alive with Cannabis here. LOL

Also, in Colorado we love the tax revenues coming in from recreational marijuana sales. The City of Aurora (where I live) is building a brand new rec center, complete with popl, hot tub, steam and dry sauna and extensive fully equipped
exercise room, all with pot taxes.

@cookieman Yeah, if there is a more sports-crazy place than Mass, I can’t think of where it might be.

Rick was in KC for a meeting and they all went to a club. He spotted a famous KC Chief’s football player and just walked up to him and invited him and his guests to their table for a beer. He accepted. The people in his group were falling all over themselves.

Ted Williams is the “Splendid Splinter”. Played almost 20 years with only the Red Sox. He’s a legend — and I barely follow sports.

That’s how big of a sports town Boston is. People wear the team shirts, watch the playoffs, will defend the teams to teeth (especially against New York) yet barely watch the games. And, of course, the die hard fans can quote stats dating back 30 years.

I was seven, so I’m sure I watched it with my grandfather who was likely screaming at the television — but I don’t have any actual memory of it.

Here in CA, we sometimes refer to summer visitors as Zonies, because folks from Arizona come here to escape the heat. Although these days, it’s sweltering hot here too.
