Is there a way to tell if apps have hidden purposes in the app store?

Apparently there was an app called Floppy Cloud, which was originally intended to be a file manager but it also turned out to be a hidden emulator for Nintendo games you could play on your iphone and ipad.
It’s no longer in the app store, but is there a way to tell if there are any hidden intentions in apps in the app store like that?

Or is there some website that could tell you such things?

I’m not sure if there’s a way to see all available in-app purchases through the app store, but most applications have a section titled “Top In-App Purchases” that can give you a sense of the types of additional purchases an app might require. For example, “Stop, Breathe, & Think” is a free app, but the top in-app purchases mainly feature membership and subscription options. It gives you a sense that not all features are available from the base app alone.
