Amid all the pettiness that Trump engaged in last week, he announced that he would be declaring an opioid national emergency some time this week. There are good reasons why he should follow through. The problem is very serious, and disproportionately affects Trump’s base of support. He promised he would do something about in his campaign and as recently as last August.
