Upon the death of William Blake his widow, Catherine, inherited his entire estate. They had no children and on her death she left the whole lot to Frederick Tatham (or so he claimed, whatever the case he ended up with them), a friend and devotee of Blake who took in and cared for Cathrine after Blake’s death. Years later in a fit of new-found religious fervor Tatham destroyed a number of Blake’s works that he decided were heretical.
