For U.S. states with legal weed, is there a site or list that will let me find Black-owned dispensaries?

Like a black person owning the shop? I don’t know. That’s weirdly specific. I doubt that a site/list exists for that. I’m sure if you maybe googled it along with the name of a specific state/county or city it may help. But I don’t think there is a broad list for all states

Would it even be legal to classify businesses by the race of the owners? I hope not.

I would bet not. To do so would be discriminatory.

Are you doing this for research? or because you prefer to buy from a black person?

There is a thing called “The Black Pages.” I have never personally tried to acquire one, as I’m Caucasian, but it exists. It’s a phone book, with only black owned businesses. I suppose, if marijuana is legal in the area, there would be a listing there. Unless the publication has a stance against the drug…

@kritiper . The publication has not been labeled discriminatory. To my knowledge, it never faced severe public backlash…

I just did a quick Google search. There’s a “The Black Pages” in Colorado…..

Not that I am aware of.

PS saw one in Colorado last week called “Garden Supplies”. Liked their take.

In certain Federal contracts there are set-asides for Minority Owned, Woman Owned, Disadvantaged Economic Areas, etc.
There might actually be a classification for it in certain states.

@MrGrimm888 Probably not a normal everyday unsegregated, unbiased publication. Sorta like if there was a publication called “The Black Panther News.” Specifically by blacks, specifically for blacks.

Is the weed any different?

@kritiper . Charleston is a city where black people are actually a majority. Well. Depending on what areas you call Charleston…

I’ve known about, well heard of “The Black Pages,” for a while.
The title is a play on The Yellow Pages, and The White Pages. I guess the Blue Pages weren’t a civil issue…

It is a “discriminatory” publication, by my opinion, but I don’t care. I am not offended by such things…

kritiper's avatar

@MrGrimm888 I don’t care either. Whatever blows a person’s skirt up, I guess…

^Yeah…..

Wow… yes I want to buy from Black-owned businesses especially in this case (when Blacks have been so disproportionately targeted for marijuana crimes).
