Yes, studied Psychology in college and one my teachers worked at a facility that documented one case in the 1950’s.

I remember hearing about a case of this where a speaker of English got a French accent.
What I would like to know is, how good are the new accents? Would any of these people be accepted as a native speaker and, if so, what does that tell us about language accents.

Back in the early 1990’s I had a client/patient who had it. Fascinating.

Interesting. What if you woke up one day, and your s/o had a new accent, that you hated? Would that be legitimate grounds for divorce?

I don’t see how the accent could carry regional subtleties, with any accuracy. Then again, I guess the accent itself, is the bigger leap… Truth is stranger than fiction….

The client I had had a very particular Austrian accent. The first docs thought it was German – took an actual language specialist to identify it correctly. It was very interesting.
