Thinking back, the closest I can come was my installation of a new water heater some 8–10 years ago. Which puts me in mind of another question

It it was easy, then anyone could do it.

True. Yet every time I commit to a project, the unanticipated is certain to rear its ugly head. You would think that I should adjust to expecting the unexpected.

I have had quite a few home projects and even large work projects that went flawlessly but this is not the norm. The ones that go well, the common theme is it is usually something I have done before. The latest was installing new flooring in the basement, I don’t think there was even a single miss-cut board.
