I don’t think it’s funny. He’s in WAY over his head, in almost every international meeting. His diplomacy skills, are non-existant. He admitted to no research before the summit with NK. Doesn’t even a novice negotiator know that this gives up some respect/power, on their side, by saying such things?
The North Koreans, will have studied Trump extensively. And ,unlike Trump, they are probably pretty aware of the situation. This is an historic opportunity to begin relations with NK, in hopes of freeing an unknown number of people in prison camps. If anyone thinks 70 years of conflict, and distrust, along the world’s most heavily defended border will be completely figured out in Trump’s first meeting, I can’t believe that.
Some decent, honest dialogue with the powers that be, would be a great start. I think realistically, we should hope to simply open a line of communication, and start talking about realistic goals/stipulations, for lifting sanctions.
