My rule of thumb is…IF I can’t pronounce most of the ingredients, I won’t put it in my mouth!!!

I don’t judge my food by it’s chemical compounds. I just stay away from packaged, prepared, high sodium/sugar foods. The point of eating is to eat, not read the package!

You’ve got to read the package to verify that it’s high sodium/sugar!!!

I eat few foods that have an ingredient list.

Do you eat air then? Pretty much everything is going to be composed of scary sounding chemicals. Case is point: the above-mentioned dihydrogen monoxide.

@Darth_Algar I eat a lot of food that’s fresh out of the garden & when I go to the grocery store & look at the ingredients list, I often put back what I just picked up. My favorite local restaurant buys the majority of their supplies from local gardens & a local butcher. I’m sure part of what I eat has some dangerous chemicals in them; but I’m not given an ingredients list with my restaurant meal. When I cook for myself, I leave out as much as possible!!!

The truth is that MANY chemicals are added into the GMO seeds we use to grow our foods; & YES, it is virtually impossible to eliminate every chemical. Therefore, I do my best to eliminate as many as possible while I’m take care of myself!!!

The point isn’t that is is virtually impossible, it is literally impossible. Everything, every single thing in the Universe, is chemicals. Most of which have scary sounding and hard to pronounce names. Dihydrogen monoxide, for example, is water. Plain, simple water. But if you picked up something off the shelf and its ingredient list said “dihydrogen monoxide” instead of “water” you’d probably put it back. If you saw a list of the natural chemical breakdown of your blood your head would probably spin.

The whole world is chemicals. But just because you can’t pronounce or don’t understand the chemical name for something doesn’t make it inherently bad.
