From what you have said before, I know you don’t have a job. I would think that would qualify you for alimony, but you will need to talk to a lawyer to make sure.

It’s very likely that you will not get alimony per se but that whatever financial assets you have will be divided in half. That’s what happened in my case. Also, until the divorce was finalized we were each supported out of joint (mainly his) income. I’m not a lawyer though so it would be best to have a free consultation with one in your state.

I think you’ll be able to get some alimony if you haven’t worked in a long time. It might be limited to a specific time period. I don’t think they do the forever alimony much anymore.

It depends on how dependent you have been on your husband and what your own contribution financially to the family has been. Most states that have provisions for alimony require a minimum number of years married as well. There are many online legal sites such as Justia where you can ask a state specific question like this and get a real answer. Why not try that.
