“Great Question” (2points)

NSFW cow being slaughtered I didn’t squirm as much and I can still eat meat. I couldn’t do it myself just yet. I just only want to buy meat that I wouldn’t waste.

Ok. I watched most of the video the whole video.. I did squirm. I got relieved afterwards when it was familiar cuts of meat.

Its not for everyone, but people know the videos exist and the information needs to remain out there. Warnings, perhaps, but no censorship.

I think it is a bad thing to censor anything!!! IF someone creates it, I think it should be available “as is” until the person watching it decides it’s NOT their cup of tea!!! Personally, the killing floor vid is one that I probably would NEVER watch; however, I know people who would be enamored by it.

My Gramps raised calves & often slaughtered them for food for our family. I used to buy a side of beef from him to keep in my freezer to save money from beef prices at the grocery store. He’d always tell me to go out & pick out my calf & he’d take it from there. I always recoiled in horror at the thought of looking one of those poor little calves in the eyes & say “this is the one I want to die”. Still, when the time came, I had no problem enjoying a good steak!!! I also can’t choose a Lobster or Crab to go into my pot.

I also don’t think that anyone should be forced to watch anything that they find distasteful!!!

If you just look one in the eyes or bond with one a few moments, you will never eat them.Cows are fairly intelligent and have emotional depth. They can display fear, anxiety, empathy and other complex emotions. They have individual personalities (some timid, some bold, etc) and can bond with humans. Most cows basically trust us, as domesticated animals do, and the way they are slaughtered, especially in this video, show horrific pain and betrayal.

The cow in this video particularly knows its fate and struggles—seeming to still trust those slaughtering it to the end.

The same might be said for pigs, which are extremely intelligent and playful although less docile. They can be loveable and sweet and playful, and can be trained.

I love animals. It’s beyond articulation, to explain how terrible such things are . Although I think @Yellowdog just said it pretty well. The violation of an instinctive trust, is a great, if undesirable way to put it.

The videos are a reminder of many things. They shouldn’t be censored. It’s important to know the price we pay for living.
Ultimately, we have to eat something. So. It is what it is.

I have things that I am passionate about. I only have one life though. I have to pick my battles.

I’d eat more wild caught fish, but the gods don’t like me using plastic bait. I have almost completely lost the stomach for using live bait (which is far more successful.)

What is the case for redaction? If such videos make you uneasy then don’t watch them. Outside the meat industry, who cares?

In high school biology class we dissected fetal pigs. The hardest part was the initial cutting, because it was easy to relate to the animal’s external features. Once inside, it was easier. We don’t have an immediate sensation of our kidneys or liver.

There are more humane ways to kill.

Let’s just say that if I had to watch every animal I ate being killed first, I’d be a vegetarian. But I don’t so I’m not. Such is life.
